Organizational Resilience - Nonprofit Learning Cohort

Join a group of your peers for this five-session interactive series that will help you to establish a more resilient organization through these challenging times. Why do some organizations recover from change easier and quicker than others? Change is met with a varying degree of success or deep challenge depending on an organization’s resilience. Discover, assess, and apply tools to build or enhance resilience during change that results in a stronger and more sustainable organization. This cohort includes introductory presentations, facilitated discussions, participant reflection and action.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Recognize and apply criteria to ensure a resilient organization.
- Engage the organizational assessment tool to evaluate core systems in their organizations.
- Develop priority strategies and tasks to improve resilience.
- Apply resources provided in the sessions to conduct an in-service for board and staff.

Introductions/Expectations and Opening Activity Discover the 4 core systems for a resilient organization and gain access to the assessment tool. |
Session 2 |
Feb 23 |
Set and implement strategic direction. Has you mission been, or direction been challenged this past year? Develop what is important beyond a strategic plan. |
Session 3 |
March 2 |
Create a healthy culture. Culture drives everything in an organization. Assess what might need to be changed and what needs to be protected. |
Session 4 |
March 9 |
Practice fiscal responsibility. Fiscal health is not how much money is in the bank. Learn what criteria might be affecting your organizational health and resilience. |
Session 5 |
March 16 |
Invest in People. How do you develop board and staff to align with core functions, implement direction, and attain desired outcomes? |
Additional Guidelines
- This learning series is intended to support Oregon-based 501(c)(3) staffed nonprofits statewide, but primarily in metro or metro-adjacent areas.
- Each session will provide nonprofit leaders with vetted information, ideas, and peer support as they navigage a flood of critical decisions they must make in 2021 and beyond.
- Limit is 15 individuals per cohort with no more than two representatives from one organization.
- Participants make a commitment to attend all sessions.

About the Cohort Leader
Corky McReynolds, PhD, CPF. Principal, LeadTeam Consulting Corky facilitates and trains leaders and teams through effective individual and group processes that build capacity for organizational development. His breadth of experiences as an administrator, professor, researcher, and consultant result in best practices for action-oriented outcomes. Corky builds leadership and team capacity for organizations to create direction and action to accomplish their mission. Corky also develops and teaches courses and workshops in strategic planning, non-profit management, group process facilitation, leadership and team development. He has facilitated and trained facilitators in strategic planning for professional associations, corporations, nature centers, state agencies and national organizations. Corky’s workshops are known for high activity, involvement and fun. Corky serves on local, national and international boards and is involved in a local service organization. |
