Join us as we mark NAO’s 40-year milestone serving Oregon’s nonprofit communities and celebrating the nonprofit sector’s accomplishments. We want to update you on NAO’s internal journey on diversity, equity and inclusion as well as share information on the broader context of that work with the nonprofit community across Oregon.
NAO is thrilled to share that the keynote speaker at our 2017 Annual Meeting will be Sean Thomas-Breitfeld, Co-Director of the Building Movement Project. BMP recently released two key reports based on a national survey on nonprofits, leadership and race – Race to Lead: Confronting the Nonprofit Racial Leadership Gap published in June and Working at the Intersections: LGBTQ Nonprofit Staff and the Racial Leadership Gap published in July. Mr. Thomas-Breitfeld will provide additional insights and perspectives into these survey findings and their direct relevance to the efforts to make the nonprofit sector more inclusive and equitable.
Also, on Thursday, September 28, NAO and Grantmakers of Oregon and Southwest Washington have partnered to bring Alliance for Justice to Portland. Immediately following NAO's annual meeting, AFJ will host a nonprofit workshop on lobbying and advocacy (details/registration below). If you represent a public or private foundation and would like to know more about funding advocacy efforts, we encourage you to attend the late-afternoon session, hosted by Grantmakers of Oregon & SW Washington, learn more here.
