Event Description
Title
Deconstructing Whiteness at Work
Presenter
Alexis James, Director of Training and Organizational Development, Cascade Employers Association
As champions of social justice, nonprofit leaders steward charitable missions and we have a responsibility to take a deeper look at how whiteness shows up in our organizations. In this session we will unpack the concepts of whiteness and white fragility, and build practical skills to effectively interrupt white supremacy when it shows up in our work and workplaces.
Learning objectives:
- Build shared context and definitions;
- Learn practical tools and approaches; and
- Normalize the act of interrupting white supremacy when it shows up in our work.
Area of Nonprofit Excellence - Leadership & Culture
Every learning opportunity NAO offers is aligned with one of nine areas of our Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence that NAO believes are critical to every nonprofit’s effectiveness and success. Diversity, equity and inclusion are essential for a thriving, effective and successful nonprofit; therefore, DE&I is embedded across all nine areas. This event focuses on Leadership & Culture.
