Event Description

Building Inclusive Services and Organizations: Continuing or Beginning the Journey

Cliff Jones, Consulting Partner, Capacity Building Partnerships

Our communities have many forms of visible and invisible differences. Leadership skills are necessary to bridge differences and build collaborations that support our communities to thrive and grow. The more people in our communities that have access to the resources needed to have good lives – the better off we all are. Working effectively across difference is critical for every nonprofit in the world we live in today. Difference in geographical base, access to resources, gender, race, ability, age, religion, sexual orientation and many other forms of difference present challenges in service delivery, board and organizational development and the achievement of our missions.

These challenges call for our best skills in building communication and partnering across difference. This workshop will focus on:

  • 18 essential skills for reaching, serving and including everyone in our community
  • Three key competencies – increasing awareness and knowledge, taking action and changing behavior and transforming systems to support inclusion
  • Three levels to work from – individual; group-team-organizational; societies systems and institutions and structures
  • A framework to support ongoing leadership and capacity development
  • And concrete things to do to continue or begin the journey of inclusion

This workshop is made possible with support from The Ford Family Foundation!
