Are you wanting to help your organization reach more supporters, volunteers, donors, and to be known in your community? Are you wanting to improve your understanding of board roles and responsibilities to help your organization thrive? Please join us for this amazing "double" workshop that combines two important concepts that will help your organization grow its circle of friends and increase your board’s effectiveness.

Morning Topic: Creating a Culture of Philanthropy, Engagement and Stewardship

What if everyone – ED/CEO, program leaders, senior staff, board members, volunteers – everyone, understood, embraced, believed in, and acted on his or her role in philanthropy in a collaborative and donor-centric manner?  What impact would that level of cooperation, integration, understanding, and passion have on your ability to raise maximum gifts?  What if the entire organization believed in customer service and productive and satisfying donor engagement?  Wow! In this powerful workshop, we’ll help you define a culture of philanthropy, engagement and stewardship for your organization, assess where you are today, and map a road to success.

Afternoon Topic: Roles and Responsibilities of a High-Performing Board

Your mission, vision and work deserve a high-performing board.  From hiring a great leader, to being an informed and passionate advocate, to governance, to fiduciary and philanthropy responsibilities, to providing expertise and wisdom, we delve into expectations, why it is important and how to make sure your board is operating at the highest possible levels. This program is experiential, practical and hands-on.

*We prefer that you attend both morning and afternoon topics. If you are only able to attend one topic, please contact to attend half of the workshop.*

About the Presenter

Laurel McCombs, Consultant & Trainer, Osborne Group

Laurel McCombs brings nearly 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector to her role as consultant and trainer with The Osborne Group.  Laurel works closely with clients on topics including donor engagement, development operations, board fundraising and more. In addition to well-received workshops for national organizations, universities, and more, Laurel has presented at the AFP International Conference, CASE-NAIS, and AFP Congress.  Prior to joining TOG, Laurel worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America where she coordinated capacity-building support to agencies across the country.  Laurel has a degree from USC and lives in Portland, OR.
