Title
Giving and Receiving Feedback (and Other Brave Conversations)
Presenter
Terri Houde, M.S.; Corporate Trainer, Faculty; Linn-Benton Community College
“Leaders not only have to model the giving of feedback, but also the receiving of feedback in a positive way.” -- David Hain
Constructive feedback delivered by a trusted expert is one of the most powerful drivers of professional development. And yet, when faced with the opportunity (or responsibility) to give this kind of feedback, many of us find that our natural reaction is to avoid or delay having these difficult conversations. However, with so much at stake – our missions, team morale, and even our overall organizational health – these are the conversations that have the biggest impact.
As a nonprofit leader, how can you approach these essential conversations so that they maximize learning and growth, strengthen relationships within your team, and increase energy and performance instead of draining both parties of their energy and enthusiasm?
A brave conversation creates an effective and empathetic pathway for giving and receiving feedback. In this session, you will learn the following:
- What is a Brave Conversation?
- How to balance courage with psychological safety in the feedback loop
- Level One Conversation: Develop wise mind and challenge comfort zones
- Level Two Conversation: Project Check ( Keep | Stop | Start )
- Level Three Conversation: Relationship Check ( Target | Strength | Stretch )
For accommodation requests, please contact us at training@nonprofitoregon.org. Advanced notice of at least 10 days is appreciated.
