Event Description

Title
Unlocking Employee Potential Through Collaborative Goal Setting

Presenter
Terri Houde, M.S.; Corporate Trainer, Faculty; Linn-Benton Community College

Whether you are onboarding new employees or developing more seasoned staff for their next step, coaching is an essential tool in every supervisor’s toolbelt. But despite our best efforts, sometimes it feels like those we manage still struggle to thrive. How do we ensure that we are setting our staff up to successfully implement their plans?

The GROW model is an elegant yet simple coaching framework you can use to collaboratively set goals with your team members. By using the GROW coaching model, you will increase staff effectiveness, efficiency, and engagement. This four-step model helps guide your goal-setting conversations, ensuring that they include realistic and insightful conversations around these essential questions:

  1. Goals – What, exactly, are we hoping to achieve?
  2. Realities – What circumstances might we need to consider that can impact our odds of succeeding?
  3. Opportunities – Do we need to acquire something new (skills, resources, people) to help us reach this goal?
  4. Way Forward – How will each of us move forward toward this goal?
