Event Description
Title
Affinity Group for Executive Directors of Color Leading Small, Emerging Nonprofits
Affinity Group Facilitator
Erica Briggs, Nonprofit Education Specialist, NAO
As nonprofit employees, we know how important it is to have healthy communities to rely on for various needs. Building connections with like-minded folks is a key component of sustainable wellness in your personal and professional lives. NAO is making it easier to invest in your care by offering an opportunity to connect with and create community within a small group (8-10) of inspiring leaders. We invite you to a free six-month series of virtual gatherings to connect.
You might feel like you don’t have time to do this, and we get it. If you feel like you are barely able to manage your current workload and personal obligations, adding one more thing that takes you away from your inbox or family seems impossible. But, part of the reason you feel like you might drown at any minute is because you need more community. Community is designed to lighten the load. By investing your time into building these relationships, you will create a support system of people who you can lean on to share resources, answer questions, be a sounding board, and more. The payoffs of participating in this affinity group will stretch beyond just conversations with like-minded colleagues – the purpose is to build a true community of care that is reciprocal and will add balance to your life, not bog you down with more stress.
These 90-minute monthly sessions will be facilitated by Erica Briggs, Nonprofit Education Specialist at NAO, a lifelong learner who advocates for culture and community, emphasizing balance and wellness. While not a requirement, we hope that as connections build over time, you will talk and meet outside these facilitated sessions as often as needed for support and care.
NAO is committed to creating inclusive learning environments and providing reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities. Automatic closed captioning via Zoom is turned on by default for all NAO virtual sessions. For other accommodation requests, please contact us at training@nonprofitoregon.org. Advanced notice of at least 10 days is appreciated.
