Marc Smiley, Principal, Solid Ground Consulting

Contrary to some notions, planning is not dead. It remains a fundamental component of a high-impact, sustainable organization. However, planning is definitely changing. Traditional approaches and principle have fostered new means of answering the fundamental questions every group must answer: what difference do we want to make, and how will we make it?

NEW Flash Consulting Sessions Available!

Fund development consultants Clarinda Hanson White and James Phelps will be available for complimentary 10-minute "flash" consulting sessions during the networking portion of this event. Availability is limited and offered on a first come first served basis.

About the Presenter

Marc Smiley's consulting experience has taken him to nearly every state in the U.S., working in the areas of board governance, strategic planning, board-staff relations, organizational structure, and fundraising planning and training. Marc has worked extensively with groups focused on conservation, historic preservation, energy and sustainability, affordable housing, and health and human services. He has also published books on board governance, strategic planning and fundraising, as well as dozens of articles in journals and periodicals. Marc has served in staff leadership roles with the Oregon Natural Resource Council, River Network, the Yakima Greenway Foundation and the Land Trust Alliance.
