Event Description

Title
NAO's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Framework

Presenter
Cliff Jones, Senior Consultant, Nonprofit Association of Oregon

Over the last 20 years, the centrality of diversity, equity and inclusion as part of the nonprofit business model and value proposition has become evident. Living out these practices and principles can be challenging; from serving customers, clients and program participants – ensuring the management structure is inclusive and equitably engages a multicultural workforce – to ensuring boards and stakeholders include constituents and represent the diversity of the community.

One effective strategy in building diversity, equity and inclusion leadership and capacity in nonprofits is to adopt an overall mindset or framework that helps illustrate reality and that also provides an approach for transformative work over time.

This session of the Equity and Inclusion Leaders Network will review the current leadership and capacity building framework that has grown out of NAO’s consulting team work with the nonprofit sector in diversity, equity and inclusion over the last 25 years.

We will review three key points of view, three key competencies and a self-development assessment from which to work and how to apply them in building organizational leadership and capacity.

One advantage of the framework is that it provides a context for how to use the many excellent diversity, equity and inclusion resources and practitioners in our region.

Join us on May 3rd to explore these questions and think about how your individual and organizational mindset around diversity, equity and inclusion can accelerate your organizations effective and successful work in this area.
