In a time when corporate philanthropic support is on the decline, learn how to effectively engage businesses in your community to generate revenue, increase volunteerism, and find strategically aligned business partners. This panel discussion will highlight new ways toward designing a holistic program to engage the local business community, as well as assess whether your current relationships are working. Perspectives from both the nonprofit and private sectors will be shared in this high-level presentation geared for executive, marketing, communications, and fundraising staff as well as Board members of nonprofit organizations.

About the Presenters

Zak Boone is the Deschutes Land Trust’s Associate Director. He is responsible for managing the Land Trust’s many fundraising, outreach, and marketing endeavors. Zak was previously the Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon. He received his BA in International Affairs from Lewis & Clark College, and his Masters in Public Administration/Nonprofit Management from Portland State University. He is currently chair of the Nonprofit Network of Central Oregon steering committee and co-chairs the fellowship committee for the Rotary Club of Bend/Mt. Bachelor.

Matt Hillman has 17 years of experience in banking and investments. He is primarily responsible for portfolio management of corporate and government customers. Prior to joining Bank of the Cascades in 2006, he was a Trust & Financial Advisor in Boise, ID and the Trust Manager for a bank in Cheyenne, Wyoming. As an active member of the community, Matt is the treasurer for the Central Oregon Estate Planning Council and a member of the Oregon Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers. He obtained his BS in Finance from the University of Wyoming and has earned his Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation.

Jeff Robberson is Dealer Principal of Robberson Ford, Lincoln, Mazda with Dealerships in Bend and Prineville, Oregon. He is a current Director and past Chairman of the Northwest Ford Dealers Advertising Association, Director of Oregon Auto Dealers Association, and a Director of Bend Chamber of Commerce. He is past National Dealer Council Representative, where he chaired the Marketing and Advertising Committee. Jeff is a charter member of the Mount Bachelor Rotary Club and past President. He has held numerous Board and leadership positions in such organizations as The United Way of Deschutes County, Deschutes County Commission for Children and Families, and Mount Bachelor Sports Education Foundation.

Kelly Schukart is the Vice President of Development for the High Desert Museum. Kelly is a graduate from the journalism school at the University of Oregon and the University of Cincinnati School of Law. Kelly moved to Bend and practiced law before transitioning into the fundraising world. Kelly was the previous Director of Development for Saving Grace.
