Integrating Cultural Competency Measures into Outcomes-based Evaluation

Ecotrust Conference Center, 2nd Floor 721 NW 9th Avenue
Portland

About this event

Cliff Jones, Senior Consultant
Nonprofit Association of Oregon

Continental Breakfast & Networking at 8:00
Presentation at 8:30

In the Essentials of Utilization-focused Evaluation, Michael Quinn Patton describes evaluation as finding out if what is hoped for actually happens. When it comes to diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or cultural competency—has your organization identified what it hopes will happen?

Clarifying vision and intention regarding cultural competency is a central and critical step. Following that with the key elements of evaluation can provide an exciting framework for creating shared vision, action planning, and accountability for diversity, equity, inclusion, and/or cultural competency goals within your organization.

Attend this interactive session of the Diversity Leaders Network and begin to develop and/or review your organization’s evaluation plan for cultural competency. As we focus on the intersecting cultural competency and outcome evaluation, we will explore the following areas:

  • What is your underlying belief that explains how planned actions will achieve cultural competency?
  • What are your specific goals related to cultural competency?
  • What are outcomes? What are cultural competency outcomes?
  • What are indicators that show cultural competency has been achieved?
  • What are methods to collect data related to your goals, outcomes, and indicators?
  • Where is my organization in this process, and what is our logical next step?
