Nonprofit Leaders Network

How to Get Your Board Involved in Fundraising

Ecotrust Conference Center 721 NW 9th Avenue
Portland

About this event

Marc Smiley
Managing Partner
Decisions Decisions

Presentation & Continental Breakfast at 8:00
Networking at 9:30

Too often nonprofit Board members shy away from fundraising. When the subject comes up, many directors suddenly become invisible or silent. Yet it is our responsibility to set up Board members in active, satisfying roles that can support the fundraising process. How do we harness our Board members’ passion for the cause and channel it into productive fundraising activities?

This fast paced session will provide practical ideas about getting your Board members to open doors, connect their friends to your organization, expand your organization’s networks, and help you find new friends and donors.

Specific topics include:

  • The myths and realities of Board fundraising efforts
  • Preparing your Board for fundraising
  • Six high-impact jobs for Board members
  • Creating positive accountability to ensure follow-through on fundraising activities
