About this event

On May 9, Live Wire is partnering with Bridgetown Comedy Festival to present an evening of some of the brightest minds and sharpest wits in comedy. The evening will feature the iconic stand-up of Janeane Garofalo, a conversation with Community creator Dan Harmon, the dark humor of Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk, and the brainy musings of comic and Dork Forest host Jackie Kashian.

GUESTS:

Janeane Garofalo is a seminal member of the hilarious cast of characters that defined alternative comedy in the 90s. Her film, television and radio credits include Reality Bites, 24, The Larry Sanders Show, The Ben Stiller Show, and The Majority Report on Air America among many, many others.

Dan Harmon is the creator/writer/producer of Community, originally an NBC comedy (now on Yahoo) that expanded the boundaries of sitcoms and just how meta one show could go. You can hear what happens inside his brain on his weekly podcast Harmontown.

As the author of Fight Club, Choke and 16 other novels, Chuck Palahniuk has garnered a huge following of lovers of dark, inventive, and at times gory tales that have been known to make people pass out at readings. His latest projects are Make Something Up: Stories You Can’t Unread, his first book of short stories, and Fight Club 2: a 10-issue maxiseries from Dark Horse Comics that will make fans wee themselves with glee.

Jackie Kashian claims her comedy is “like listening to a really racy episode of All Things Considered,” which is also how we describe Live Wire, so this should go really well. She hosts The Dork Forest podcast, recently appeared on Conan and has a new standup special called “This Would Make an Excellent Horcrux.”

MUSIC:

The latest self-titled release from the techno-yet-psychedelic-and-bombastic indie duo Helio Sequence is their sixth release, and was called “their most spontaneous and playful” release yet by KEXP.
