About this event

This event is provided by Resolutions Northwest.

Please join Two Rivers Aikikai and Resolutions Northwest for this unique
workshop. Through movement, introspection, and interaction, you will gain
practical tools for resolving conflict and put the experience of non-violent
conflict resolution into your body.

No martial arts experience is required. We work with participants to adapt
each exercise to your own level of mobility and comfort (or you can learn by
observing if you prefer).

Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art with the ultimate goal of convincing humanity that violence is not an effective means of improving society. While this is not a martial arts class, it is grounded in our belief that the lessons of Aikido can help people develop a centered, balanced and sensitive human spirit.

In this workshop, we use scaled-back variations of a punch or grab as metaphors for everyday conflicts in the workplace, family, or community. In a safe and constructive environment, we lead participants in activities that shift back and forth between physical exercises, fundamental concepts of conflict resolution, and your own scenarios, thus building many levels of skill for responding to everyday (non-physical) interpersonal conflict.

Not just talking but also movement! Not just concepts but also your own real-life examples! Get a great foundation in conflict resolution and have fun at the same time.
