As funders and nonprofits who live, work, and play in the Northwest, we enjoy the beauty and bounty this region represents. We are also a critical component of the support system that assists the most vulnerable in our communities. How often do we, as the social sector, consider natural and man-made disasters in our planning process. In other communities we have seen nonprofit and faith-based organizations emerge as critical partners in helping communities after a disaster. We believe that in the wake of a disaster, many people will turn for help to the organizations in their communities that they trust and rely on every day. Will they turn to your organization or your grantees? What role can you play in helping the community? What are your strengths? What can you do to be more ready to help?

In this interactive conversation hosted jointly between GRANTMAKERS of Oregon and Southwest Washington and the Nonprofit Association of Oregon, we will discuss how we, as a sector, can be ready to step up to help the most vulnerable in our communities in the face of a disaster. Join us for the first of these critical conversations.
