Our panelists will share lessons learned and strategies for building leadership in staff, Board members, and ourselves.

Come prepared to be inspired by your peers and take away some practical ideas you can apply in your own organization and networks.

About the Presenters

Stepping in as NAO’s ETS Interim Director is Ben Moorad. Ben has been a member of the Interim Executive Directors team since 2008 and has served as an Interim Director on four assignments. In 1998 he co-founded Write Around Portland, an innovative nonprofit which transforms lives and our communities through the power of writing.

Cynthia Winter brings over 20 years of experience in developing people, programs, and organizations. She has served as an Executive Director, Program Director, Interim Director, and Executive Coach. Her most recent work has been coaching leaders to achieve bottom line performance results that serve as a catalyst for organizational change.

For the past 20+ years, Dianne Alves has worked for nonprofit organizations that affect change by protecting the environment, administering health care and health education, providing housing, supporting comprehensive mental health and social services to children and families, and K-12 and higher education. She is a member of the ETS—Interim Development Directors Program, and she serves on the Board of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Oregon and SW Washington and on several fund development committees. Her past nonprofit Board and fund development committee experience includes the Peninsula Children’s Center, Proud Ground, Schoolhouse Supplies, Oregon Wild, McKenzie River Gathering Foundation, and Oregon NARAL.

Kathy Kniep was one of the founding members of NAO’s Executive Transition Services—Interim Executive Directors Program and has over 24 years of experience working for a wide variety of nonprofit organizations. She served as executive director of the YWCA Clark County in Vancouver for six years and as interim ED for six organizations. She loves to facilitate strategic planning and also provides a variety of organizational consulting services, including leadership support (executive coaching) and executive searches. She currently volunteers as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), has served on a variety of Boards, and holds a master’s degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.
