This event is provided by Deschutes National Forest – Asian Pacific Islander Employee Association (APAEA)

HAPA EA is the local chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander Employee Association (APAEA) of the Deschutes National Forest and the sponsor of the 2016 Cross Cultural Awareness Storyteller Series. HAPA EA which means breath of life into crossing cultures, presents an open forum that supports being inclusive and open to learning about and embracing the diversity of cultures in our community and other places. Chris Yamasaki will be presenting
“Finding Your Roots on a Snow-Covered Mountain in Hokkaido, Japan on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the Ponderosa Room of the Deschutes National Forest Office. Come and hear Chris tell us about his recent cultural experience on the snow-covered slopes of a volcano on the island of Hokkaido, an area of Japan known for its international tourism.
Chris spent the month of January venturing to the various ski resorts around Niseko, the northern part of Japan. His last name means “mountain cape” so it seems fitting to find his roots on a mountain. Chris is part of the Region 6 Data Resources Management Group. He works as a GIS Specialist on the Deschutes National Forest.
