Presentation at 12:00
At its best, philanthropy—or love of people—requires mutual effort. Wooing major donors is just a start. Savvy fundraisers continue to earn their donors’ trust and confidence by lovingly attending to donor needs and building long-term relationships between donors and the organizations they support.
How do you discern your donors’ needs? What challenges do you face? Join us as we highlight research on philanthropic motivations and discuss ways to reflect love back to donors with diverse needs. With your peers, explore one of four provocative case studies and share how you would show love to these “difficult” donors under trying, sometimes ethically challenging circumstances. Leave with some fresh ideas, practical strategies, and clever tools to help bond donors to your organization in the months and years between gifts. Experience renewed energy and joy in the process of inspiring lasting philanthropic commitments.
Main topics include:
- Overview of philanthropy and the importance of reinforcing its motivations
- Summary and implications of research on donor motivations
- Small group discussion and analysis of case studies: Peggy Repayer, Joan Dynast, Ted Investor, and George Altruist
- Practical stewardship strategies, tools, and takeaways
