About this event
This event is provided by Salem Art Association
After a five year Access Art Project fundraising campaign and eight months of
extensive renovations, the Annex at the Bush Barn Art Center will reopen to
the public this fall at a special event. The unveiling of the space will take
place at 5:30 pm and will include the opening of an elevator connecting to
the Bush Barn’s second-floor gallery. This new addition, along with other
improvements, makes both buildings compliant with Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) standards for accessibility.A temporary exhibition titled looking
forward: LOOKING BACK will be on view in the Annex during the event. Through
audio interviews and visual art from past Salem Art Association (SAA) artists
and administrators such as Carl Hall, Charles Heaney, Sara Swanberg, Nancy
Lindburg and Bonnie Hull, visitors will be able to reflect on the history of
the organization and imagine what the future will hold for this exciting new
space. Art by Andrew Myers, Eric Tautkus and Chris Casarez will also be on
view.
Coinciding with the Grand (Re)Opening will be the SAA Annual Meeting at 5:15
pm and Fine Art Friday from 6-8 pm at the Bush Barn Art Center. Come
celebrate three exhibitions featuring art by April Waters, Bets Cole, Frank
Miller and Anton Pavlenko. Guests can also enjoy a free lecture with April
Waters and Bets Cole at 6:15 pm. Refreshments will be provided by the SAA
Gallery Guides.
