Nonprofits today are constantly expected to provide more expansive and
higher-quality services with fewer resources, and a key part of getting the
work done is the successful management and retention of volunteers. During
this training, you will complete a ‘Volunteer Program Assessment’ tool
for your organization, followed by a discussion about where to invest your
energy to develop a better volunteer program.
We will cover topics such as volunteer recruitment strategies, orientations,
waivers/liability, and external resources available to you as someone working
with volunteers. Note that this training is designed for organizations with
volunteer programs in development/staff new to volunteer management, though
everyone is welcome to participate.
Presenters: Volunteer Management Experts Becky Blumer and Lizzie Houns of
Hands on Greater Portland.
