In the for-profit sector, a company periodically requires an injection of equity capital to fuel its growth and pay for the deficits incurred en route to sustainability—the point at which revenue reliably covers operating expenses.

While the equity concepts of “ownership” and “return” do not exist for nonprofits (which don't have owners), mission-focused organizations nonetheless share the periodic need for investment and funders to fill that role. The sector is beginning to change in the way nonprofits and donors think about growth and fundraising, and how donated funds can helpfully fill the resource gap. Through this 60-minute webinar, NFF will unpack the various ways Nonprofits use capital for growth and change. Facilitators will also distinguish between the roles of builders (those who invest in creating high-performing nonprofit enterprises) and buyers (those who invest directly in program execution) and offer tools to help each be more effective.
