About this event
This event is provided by Oregon Wildlife Foundation
River restoration can seem very boring and technical, but woody debris in
streams is an important habitat restoration tool. Large wood interacts with
water and sediment to provide a host of benefits for juvenile and adult fish
alike, including the development of pools, sorting and retaining gravel for
spawning, providing cover from predators, and slowing stream velocity.
At this month’s event, Stream Restoration Biologist, Dave Stewart, will cover
key elements in restoring natural channel processes that, in turn, create
better fish habitat; past historical practices that have guided where we are
today; and actions you can take to improve a stream near you, and the habitat
that supports fish and other species.
