Portland

About this event

Live in Portland, video-linked to Bend, Medford, and Springfield.

Doors Open at 7:30
Plated Breakfast at 8:00
Business Program at 8:30
Guest Speaker & Panel Discussion at 10:00

Join us for our Annual Meeting, help us celebrate our accomplishments from the past year, hear about our new vision for the future, enjoy thought provoking presentations, and network with your peers.

NAO will introduce our newly adopted Theory of Change, defining the fundamental elements required to bring about our long-term vision and goals. We will present highlights of the past year, with reports from the NAO Board President, Executive Director, and Board Committee Chairs. NAO will announce the new Board members representing our membership for the coming year.

The meeting will feature a presentation—How Can Nonprofits Stay Relevant?—by Dr. Shashi Buluswar (co-founder and Executive Director of LIGTT). Simply being a nonprofit no longer guarantees that we have the most effective business model to serve our mission. Social entrepreneurship and social enterprises have become an integral part of the world of social good with new for-profit models emerging all the time. How do nonprofits evolve, stay competitive, and “push the envelope” for social benefit? We are more challenged than ever to demonstrate our impact and success. This presentation will put us all on our toes! He will then moderate a panel discussion with Q&A further exploring this topic, joined by:

  • Andrea Cano, Associate, LACE (Latina Associates for Collaborative Endeavors)
  • Chris Krenk, President & CEO, Albertina Kerr Centers
  • Jeanne Enders, Executive Director of Online Programs, School of Business at Portland State University
  • Justin Yuen, President, FMYI [for my innovation]
  • Kay Sohl, National Trainer & Consultant, Kay Sohl Consulting
