Event Description
Title
Understanding and Managing Team Dynamics
Presenter
George Myers, Principal Consultant, gmars Consulting LLC
Summary
All of us are on teams. Some of these are formal committees, some are informal groups of friends. Occasionally we find ourselves thrown together with a group of complete strangers, and have no idea how we will ever work together. During this session we will participate in the “Marshmallow Challenge” to learn why your team succeeded, or not. We will study theories of team development, and discuss strategies to help you understand what human dynamics come into play in teams and how to apply proven principles to ensure all team members can contribute, are valued, and can have fun!
Learning Objectives:
- Participate, observe and learn what happens during a team building activity
- Gain knowledge around group decision making
- Learn several team dynamics theories on how human dynamic will affect team performance, and how to maximize the chances of having successful teams.
Area of Nonprofit Excellence - Purpose & Strategy and Leadership & Culture
Every learning opportunity NAO offers is aligned with one of nine areas of our Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence that NAO believes are critical to every nonprofit’s effectiveness and success. Diversity, equity and inclusion are essential for a thriving, effective and successful nonprofit; therefore, DE&I is embedded across all nine areas. This event focuses on Human Resources & Operations and Leadership & Culture. For additional resources in this category, visit: Purpose & Strategy and Leadership & Culture. |
