About the Experts/Moderator

Kathy Swift, Senior Vice President and Nonprofit Development Officer, Heritage Bank

Kathy has over 30 years of banking experience as well as expertise managing a portfolio of both for-profit and nonprofit companies, including real estate loans, lines of credit, tax-advantaged bonds and affordable housing credits. Kathy is an avid supporter of her community. She contributes to over 20 local nonprofits and volunteers hundreds of hours each year. She currently serves as board chair for Jesuit Volunteer Corps Northwest, board treasurer for Catholic Charities of Oregon, board member for Portland Community Reinvestment Initiative (PCRI) and trustee of the Parish Trust Fund of the Archdiocese of Portland. At home, Kathy likes to watch over her Rhode Island Red chickens—whose coop features an electronic door, automated feeder and video surveillance system

Laura Caldera, Practice Group Leader, Bullivant Houser

Laura is the Practice Group Leader of Bullivant Houser's Business Law Group. She is a trial attorney focusing her practice on complex business, professional liability, and intellectual property disputes. Her approach is consistent regardless of the area of the law: gain a full understanding of the issues, but more importantly, the client's needs. Once understood, she prepares a vigorous defense or representation that draws on her many years of successful trial experience.

Bill Holmes, CPA/ABV/CVA/CFE, Holmes & Company

Bill is a certified public accountant, business valuation expert and fraud examiner with Holmes & Company PC. He is the Vice-Chair of the Accountants' Specialized Litigation Group (SLG) for the Defense Resource Institute (DRI) and served on the Oregon Board of Accountancy Complaints Committee (BOACC) for five years. He has published articles on the standard of care for accountants, is an invited speaker at national litigation conferences involving accounting malpractice and advanced damages topics, and assists trial lawyers nationally in complex litigation matters. His firm provides full service public accounting services, including auditing, taxation, and business consulting services to a broad range of clients.
