Oregon Legislative Update - The Nonprofit Perspective

Join NAO’s Executive Director, Jim White for an update on the 2021 Oregon legislative session with a focus on the bills that NAO believes would have the most impact on nonprofits. With Oregon’s lawmakers nearly halfway through the regular session for 2021 and hundreds of bills already heard, join us for this 60-minute informational session to learn what should nonprofit leaders know, be aware of, and take action on.
We will also hear from special guest, Chris Cobey - Voter Service Chair for League of Women Voters of Portland on the redistricting issue. How does redistricting fit into the legislature's work? Why is it important to your nonprofit? And how can you participate, both as an entity and individually, to affect the redistricting process?

About the Presenters

Chris Cobey, Board Member, League of Women Voters of Portlan After 70 years as a Californian, Chris immigrated to Oregon to be near his family in Portland. In California, he had a career as an employment lawyer — and then a stint as a Hearst Castle guide. His prior public engagement has been as a city council member and mayor, a civil service commissioner, a land use advisory group chair, and temporary judge. His League interests include voter service, redistricting, the judiciary, employment law, ranked choice voting, development, and Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI). Portland’s and Oregon’s people, politics, and places continue to surprise and delight him. |

Jim White, Executive Director, Nonprofit Association of Oregon im currently serves as the Executive Director of the Nonprofit Association of Oregon. He began this assignment in October of 2012. Jim is deeply committed to social change and has worked in the nonprofit sector both domestically and internationally for more than 20 years. He has a passion for affecting systemic change in the way that the public, private and nonprofit sectors work together to support and strengthen civil society. He is specifically skilled on working to build alliances and partnerships with mission and results driven outcomes in mind. |
