Rogue Valley Nonprofit Network

Funding Administrative & Overhead Costs

Inn at the Commons 200 N Riverside Avenue
Medford

About this event

Kathy Ingram, Consultant and Trainer
Kathy Ingram, PhD. Inc.

Lunch & Networking at 11:30
Presentation at 12:00

Nonprofits confront a daunting paradox. Board members, donors, the IRS, and funders demand competent management, accurate tracking of services, and clear measurement of results. They would also like the nonprofits they support to spend as little as possible on administrative costs.

How do nonprofits develop and maintain the sophisticated systems required for effective management in an environment which appears to reward under-investment in administrative functions? How do we get the info we need to evaluate our true overhead burden without raising fears of the twin demons of administrative and overhead costs?

Join Kathy Ingram for an engaging discussion of strategies nonprofits are using to fund their accounting, fiscal management, information technology, HR, and board support costs amidst conflicting demands and definitions of the IRS, GAAP, foundations, governmental funders and charity rating services. Learn how nonprofits are negotiating with government and foundation funders, using private donations, and/or making administrative and overhead costs disappear in their budgets and financial statements.

Join us to discuss:

  • Identifying Administrative and Overhead Costs
  • Negotiating contracts based on the “fully loaded costs”
  • Performance based contracting
  • Cross subsidizing programs
  • Funding Administrative and Overhead with Unrestricted Gifts
  • Capacity Building Grants
  • Individual Donor Support for Infrastructure
