How to Write Your Artist Statement and Promotional Materials

Amazon Community Center – Studio B 2700 Hilyard St.
Eugene

About this event

Artist statements, websites, proposals, publicity, funding: for today’s working artist, writing is now essential to sustaining a career. Maybe your art has developed, but your artist statement has not. Or maybe you’re mystified by the task of promotional writing and don’t know where to begin. Let’s start here. This interactive 2-hour class offers clear direction, achievable advice, and plenty of encouragement to artists who are ready to enhance their visual work with effective language. Bring a notebook and a willingness to exchange ideas with other artists. This workshop is based on Vicki Krohn Amorose’s book Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists.

Note: Participants must have a copy of Art-Write ($10) to use as a workbook/textbook for this workshop. Books will be available at Lane Arts Council at the workshop, or you can order your copy online through Powells, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, or your independent bookstore.

Workshop Fee:
$30 – includes a copy of Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists
$20 – you bring your own copy of Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists
Cost:
This workshop fee is $20-30.
