Nonprofit Leaders Network

Targeted Marketing for Actionable Results

Ecotrust Conference Center 721 NW 9th Avenue
Portland

About this event

Ryan Schwartz
Full Focus Communications

Presentation & Continental Breakfast at 8:00
Networking at 9:30

Most nonprofit directors will tell you their target audience is “everyone.” But rare is the nonprofit with a budget big enough to talk to everyone. In order to make the most of our limited resources, we must identify the people we need to convince, figure out what moves them to action, develop messages that resonate with them, and engage with them on the channels they’re comfortable using.

In this workshop, you’ll learn how to identify your target audiences, craft messages that motivate them, and get the word out to the people who need to hear it. You’ll get hands-on experience using practical tools designed to make it easy to map out a winning plan for everything from fundraising to campaigning to volunteer recruitment.

About the Presenter

Ryan Schwartz applies the science of persuasion to the art of social change.

Fueled by a thirst for understanding how people think, feel, and act, he is trained as a cultural anthropologist and inspired by his experiences as a journalist. His stories have been told across the globe; he’s been recognized by the Media Institute of Southern Africa for producing the community radio show of the year.

As a non-profit consultant, he translates the science of how people develop beliefs, identities, and political opinions into concrete brand, messaging, and communications strategies that inspire action and build cohesive movements. Ryan has worked on behalf of clients such as the Southern Poverty Law Center, Human Rights Campaign, and Compassion & Choices. When he’s not learning, facilitating, or strategizing, he enjoys exploring the vibrant neighborhoods and forests of Portland, Oregon.
