About this event

Barb Gibbs, Senior Consultant

Nonprofit Association of Oregon

Pizza, Salad, No-host Bar & Networking at 5:00
Presentation at 5:30

Hiring the executive director is a key role of a nonprofit board of directors, but it doesn’t stop there! Regular evaluation of the executive director not only ensures that an organization’s mission is being met and that the person at the center of the organization feels supported, but it also provides an opportunity to clarify expectations about the need for strategic decision making—especially important in challenging economic times.

In this session, we’ll answer your questions about evaluating your ED, including:

  • How do I evaluate someone who may know more about our organization than me?
  • When and how often should we evaluate?
  • How does supervision tie in to evaluation
  • Who should be involved in the evaluation?
  • How do you find a balance between micromanagement and no management?
  • How can the evaluation process be a true partnership?
  • How does evaluation relate to compensation? How do I know what an appropriate compensation is for this position?

You’ll hear from Barb Gibbs about what is most helpful in supervision and an evaluation. He’ll share tips, checklists, and samples that will help you navigate this important task.
