Nonprofit organizations have unique accounting and reporting challenges and have been given a trust to provide transparent and insightful reporting to a wide group of stakeholders. Learn how nonprofit accounting and reporting best practices can provide insight into organizational success, challenges and red flags. Understand how metrics and dashboards can provide illuminating reports to all stakeholders.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Identifying cost centers: administrative, fundraising, shared, indirect, and overhead costs
  • Reporting revenue and fundraising outcomes
  • Presenting return on investment in fundraising initiatives
  • Reporting organizational successes, benchmarks and challenges

About the Presenter

Fritz Duncan specializes in tax, auditing, and financial review for non-profit organizations and limited partnerships. Fritz also specializes in affordable housing, including the Low Income Housing Tax Credit. He joined Jones & Roth in 1995, and is currently a member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants. Fritz has served on the board of directors for Junior Achievement and the Eugene Active 20/30 Club. In his free time, Fritz also coaches soccer and volleyball for KidSports

Kari Young is a manager on Jones & Roth’s Affordable Housing and Non-Profit teams, and a member of the Form 990 Task Force. Kari graduated from the University of Oregon in 2007, and has been with Jones & Roth since August of that year. Kari’s experience in the affordable housing industry includes assurance, consulting, and tax preparation services for affordable housing limited partnerships and HUD projects. Her expertise with non-profit organizations includes assurance services, including single audit, and information return preparation.

Each session of the South Willamette Valley Nonprofit Network is designed to strengthen your management skills while providing field-tested concepts and tools to take back to your organization for implementation. In addition to skills development, each session allows for networking and peer coaching in a collaborative learning environment.
