About this event

Live Wire Radio is Portland’s own nationally syndicated radio variety show.

If you haven’t been to a Live Wire show before, here’s what you’re in for: it’s a bold, sometimes unusual, sometimes-dangerous-but-always-delightful mix of music, conversation and comedy. With beer.

Join us at the next live show! Some of our guests will include:

Steve Almond has written controversial things about candy, sex and politics, even going head-to-head with Sean Hannity, but his latest book, Against Football: One Man’s Reluctant Manifesto, wherein he examines the dark underbelly of America’s favorite game, may be his most controversial yet.

As the head of the puppetry department for Laika, Georgina has overseen the creation of beautiful, intricate puppets for stop-motion films like Coraline, Paranorman and the forthcoming Box Trolls.

Nicholas Kristof is a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner and your favorite New York Times op-ed columnist (don’t argue with us – he just is). His most recent book, the second he’s written with his wife Sheryl WuDunn is called A Path Appears: Transforming Lives and Creating Opportunities.

Since 2005, Horse Feathers have been the quintessential indie folk band out of the Northwest, but with their latest album, lead singer Justin Ringle added a rhythm section and now plan to rock out with their…guitars and things. Their newest record is So It Is With Us.

Bill Frisell has been one of the leading guitarists in jazz since the late 1980s. He has released 38 albums including the 2005 Grammy Award-winning Unspeakable. His latest album Guitar in the Space Age is available October 7th.
