NAO partners with thought leaders and subject matter experts to offer a variety of webinars and workshops that are designed to help nonprofit professionals enhance their capacity and knowledge in core areas of Leadership and Culture, Purpose and Strategy, Governance, Legal Compliance and Transparency, Resource Development, Financial Oversight, Program Management and Effectiveness, Human Resources and Operations, and Communications and Public Affairs.

Webinars can take the form of shorter informational sessions that provide an opportunity to learn about timely topics and receive critical guidance on fast moving issues. Much like an in-person workshop, these virtual learning opportunities can also take the form of longer instructional sessions that are interactive and geared to help you to build your knowledge and skills in a particular area of nonprofit governance, management, or leadership.

BOARD BRIGHT SERIES: NAO’s Quarterly Board Trainings - Free for NAO Members! (check back for scheduled dates)

Governance Roles & Responsibilities: This 90-minute NAO webinar covers the fundamentals of nonprofit governance and the board’s role in the management of the organization to include roles of the individual and the board as a collective, board responsibilities related to areas such as fundraising and fiscal health, rights and limited liability protections afforded to board members, the typical structure of the board including officer positions and key policies, and board management basics for a well-functioning board.

Finance Fundamentals: This 90-minute NAO webinar is an overview of basic financial principles; including board member responsibilities, understanding restrictions, reviewing your statements for key financial indicators, and internal controls.

Engaging Your Board in Fundraising: This 90-minute NAO webinar provides strategies for setting your board up for fundraising success by creating expectations, increasing your board’s understanding of the organization’s revenue needs, finding ways for everyone to play a role, and building board ambassadors for your cause.
