Improve Oregon's Nonprofit-Government Partnership

Thank you for signing on to the letter to Governor Kotek!

In 2024, a state task force, mandated by the legislature, reviewed government grantmaking and contracting with nonprofits. That Task Force confirmed what many already knew: existing policies were out-of-date, bureaucratic, redundant, and slow. The Task Force made strong recommendations to modernize grantmaking and contracting, yet two years later, no action has been taken.

Many of the task force recommendations can be implemented administratively without new legislation or funding. Governor Kotek has an enormous opportunity to make Oregon a national model for how government and nonprofits work together to deliver essential services to Oregonians.

Thank you to the 217 organizations that joined NAO in signing a letter asking Governor Kotek to take action to modernize grantmaking and contracting between state government and the nonprofits. The letter was delivered to Governor Kotek on May 4. We will share updates as they become available.
