About this event

NAO proudly partners with four of our nonprofit members in Portland to offer field trips for NIC attendees. Field trips relate to the Insight, Innovation & Impact theme, providing dynamic learning experiences at local organizations with a group of peers.

Field trips are open to NIC attendees only. Conference sessions adjourn at noon and field trips begin between 2:00 – 2:45 p.m. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation and lunch, so be sure to plan your break time accordingly. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email and additional communications with details about your trip (parking, host’s contact information, etc.).

Registration will close on Thursday, October 16 at 5:00 p.m.

Please contact training@nonprofitoregon.org if you have questions.

Field Trip Descriptions

Bridge Meadows Site Visit
Location: 8502 N Wayland Ave, Portland, OR 97203

We’re growing! Join Dr. Derenda Schubert, Executive Director, for a tour of Bridge Meadows, an intergenerational affordable housing community developer that brings together families impacted by foster care and elders who seek meaning and purpose as they age. To date, we have three communities: North Portland, Beaverton, and Redmond with the addition of New Meadows, a partnership program for youth who have aged out of foster care. We are expanding to Tacoma, Washington, and it will be our first community outside of Oregon. We’re excited to share our program model with you, give you some history, and have some of our community members share their stories.

Sasquatch: Ancestral Guardians – Guided Tour
Location: 4033 SW Canyon Rd, Portland, OR 97221

Join Stephanie Stewart Bailey, co-curator and experience developer at World Forestry Center, for an intimate, behind-the-scenes tour of the featured exhibition Sasquatch: Ancestral Guardians. This personalized tour offers a deeper understanding of the exhibit’s themes and the artwork created by seven indigenous artists.

SEI Site Visit
Location: Tony Hopson, Sr. Center for Self Enhancement, 3920 N Kerby Ave, Portland, OR 97227

Since 1981, SEI has been a one-stop resource for African American youth and their families. The visit will include an overview of SEI and our mission, a tour of SEI’s new makerspace and state-of-the-art tech lab—spaces built to spark student creativity and skill development—and a trip to one of SEI’s nearby housing developments where we provide safe and supportive homes for families.
